My Influence Map

Description

Has taken way too long, but you know me, I dislike meme's, bandwagons... the whole deal. Anyway, these are the artists that influenced me. I tried to use my own art most of the time, because of copyright issues.

... I need a new preview image XD Anyway, click to see :)

Biggest influences:

Elfquest and mainly Wendy Pini. She was THE reason I started drawing. In my art the influence is quite visible.

At the moment, Tanemura Arina is also a big influence - I love the details in her art! At the moment, my fav work of her is Time Stranger Kyoko and Ion, followed by Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne and Full Moon wo Sagashite.

And the Little Mermaid... well, I drew her once... when I was 8 or so XD I know the drawing exists SOMEWHERE in this house... Never noticed I love drawing mermaids?

Big influences:

Pokémon. Okay, not Togepi, but that's the only Pokémon drawing I have XD. Pokémon got aired in the Netherlands around my 16th year and that's when I discovered Anime. I got a lot more free with hair colours and eye colours because of it.

W.I.T.C.H. is also a big influence, but W.I.T.C.H. is from Disney...so is this a double entry? Anyway, I just love the flow and the art from the series. Too bad it got cancelled in the Netherlands *sad sighs* Elyon rules.

Sailor Moon... the second anime/manga I got in touch with... I have the manga in both English and French because the series got cancelled in the USA, so half the series is English, other half is French. Anyway, Naoko Takeuchi's manga influenced me with hair-drawing; it got a lot more 'loose' thanks to her.

Quite some influence:

:iconsailorenergy: influenced my art, but also my story! Thanks to him, I managed to bring some sort of science into my stories XD My strange magical powers now suddenly make sense XP But still; he rules.

:iconelf-fin: influenced my mermaid art - I managed to get some sort of little bit of beauty in it.... Oh, and he inspired me to do an animation-try-out (also in the gallery; Animated Kimu).

:iconsonion: influenced... well, not that much yet. However, he was the one who encouraged me to try perspective in art and I simply love his inking lines. I want to be able to do that too!
Anyway, in the beginning I could hardly see any difference between his' and Wendy Pini's work; if it wasn't for the name... However, when I saw the page below, I suddenly have less difficulty with seeing who drew what XP :iconsonion: just has a 'swing of the pen' that's different from Wendy Pini's; a tad more lighter than hers!

(P.S. I love ^ page to bits. It is AWESOME)

Some influence

I have way more influence than these three, like Franka from Henk Kuijpers and Alfred Jodocus Kwak from Herman van Veen, but those didn't really influence me artwise. More storywise.

Anyway:

Yoko Tsuno by Roger Leloup. Especially his medieval china episodes... not to mention the detail in his work! Each comic is a pure gem... (episode 25 coming out on November 11th!)

Melusine, or Melisande as she is called in Dutch. I don't know how the comic influences me, but I just know it does. (Artist Clarke and writer Gilson)

Tenchi Muyo # 3 was the first manga I bought, so that manga will always hold a special place in my heart. And I so love the 'kimono like' attires...
Not to mention the stories!!

Well, that was it. Almost all art was made by me; you can find the images in my gallery; mostly underneath fanart :)
